For budding photographers and those interested in pursuing a career in photography, it's that time of the year to start signing up for two of the biggest photography mentorship programs available!
SHOOTING HOME 2014:
Into it's 11th year, the Shooting Home Workshop is considered the grand old dame of photography workshops in Singapore. Started in 2003 by the Objectifs Centre for Photography and Film. 10 Participants are selected annually by faculty members based on the strength of their portfolio, and these participants are then run through a rigorous five-day workshop the comprises of idea pitching, shooting, group and individual critiques and edits and culminates not only with a preview exhibition on the last night of the workshop, but also a full exhibition shortly after the conclusion of the workshop.
Started to prove to photographers that shooting their home countries can be as fruitful as shooting in exotic locales, the workshop has seen over 100 participants pass through it's doors in the last decade, with around 50% of those moving on to a career in photography.
2014's faculty comprises of Chow Chee Yong, fine art photographer and educator at Temasek Polytechnic's Department of Visual Communications, architecture and commercial photographer Darren Soh, portrait photographer and visual artist Sean Lee, multi-discipline Malaysian visual artist Yee I-Lann, and yours truly.
This year's workshop will run from 1 April to 6 April, 2014, and the submission deadline is on 19 Feb, 2014.
