After a long five days, Shooting Home 2013 has finally come to an end. Final critiques were conducted, and participants were left to their own devices to prepare their slideshow, print, mount and hang their pictures, provide refreshments, and get their exhibition up and running before 6pm.
They didn't disappoint. Finishing faster than any other batch in Shooting Home's 11 year history, there wasn't even any stress with everyone (seemingly) knowing what they needed to do and helping each other when they were free.
To the participants of SH2013, great job on the mini-exhibition. Now it's time to focus on Thursday's (11 April, 2013) actual opening night for the full exhibition. Make sure the prints are done early, give yourself time to mount all your pictures, and please change the tempo of your slideshow music! :-) Apart from that, congratulations on passing through the Shooting Home experience! I hope you learnt as much from us as we did from you.
Note: The Shooting Home 2013 Exhibition opens on the evening of the 11th of April, 2013 for invited guests and Shooting Home Alumni only. The exhibition will be open to the public from the 12-21 of April at Objectifs - Centre for Photography and Filmmaking located at 56a Arab Street, so feel free to pop by anytime during those dates for a look!
At this point, the only shooting left to be done is being taken care of by Ryan who is faithfully documenting the workshop for Objectifs.
The computers all come out as participants prepare their images for printing and final sequencing of slideshow photos are tweaked.
The faculty take a break as participants go into overdrive getting their images printed and mounted.
Printed photos are mounted on self-adhesive foam board...
...then they are cut in anticipating of being placed on wall.
Artists' bios are also written and printed.
and little balls of Blu-Tack are rolled to be used in sticking the pictures and bios to the wall.
One of these things is not like the others.
Finished pictures are placed in a rough sequence on the floor...
...sometimes without the co-operation from faculty members who get in the way!
A finalized sequence is then chosen for the pictures based on color, theme and/or feel...
...before being put up on the wall...
...and artist bios are attached.
Once it's all up, participants wait and rest during the calm before the storm.
A quick introduction by Andy, and it's off to the slideshow.
